Choose your own support worker

Find your perfect match

We know how hard it can be to find the right support worker that you feel comfortable with. We do things very differently at Supporting Moo!

When you book in for support services with us, we let you choose your own support worker. You’ll get access to many profiles where you can choose the person who most suits you.

You can choose a support worker based on age, gender, language or even common interests. If you love dogs, you might find a support worker who loves dogs too. Want to talk about gaming or sport? We have support workers who love talking about those things too.

We even have support workers who love getting involved with activities like dancing, art and music.

    about Jodi

    Jess

    Support Coordinator/Team Leader

I believe that anyone can do anything they put their mind to, and I love helping people to achieve their goals and become as independent and possible, no matter how long it takes or how creative we need to be to ensure success!

    • About me

I moved to Darwin in 2018 from Victoria and really love the weather and lifestyle here! My family and I enjoy watching the sunset, fishing, camping, going to the football, heading to the markets as well as watching movies and listening to music! We have 3 pet rabbits that are cuddly and cute, but also a bit cheeky!

    • About my work

I have two special needs daughters aged 17 and 15 years and have also been working with young people with disabilities for about 7 years.

    Kiara

    Support Coordinator/SLES Coach

I want to make a positive impact on those around me. Support Coordination and SLES Coach allows me to do it as a job. I love the work I do, the connections I make, and our little community in Darwin.

    • About me

I was born in Darwin and grew up with my parents and younger sister Dana - we are eighteen months apart and very close.

I currently live with my partner, cat and dog in Palmerston. When the weather is half decent, we love to take Tiger (dog) camping and for big walks, he is a super active Australian Shepherd Rescue. Equally, I love hanging out at home, cuddles with Lila (cat) and making good food with a good movie on.

I love living in Darwin, I enjoy going to see live music, Darwin festival, swims at Berry Springs and I love that all my friends and family are here close with me.

    • About my work

I’ve previously worked as an Inclusion Support Assistant in a secondary school and as a Support Worker. I was previously studying towards a Bachelor of Education but found Support Coordination/SLES Coach work aligns with my values and where I feel I can be most impactful to the lives of others.

    Blake

I like being a support worker because I like seeing people have fun and achieve. I like being able to network, communicate and articulate what a supported person needs and find a way to make it happen.

My highlight as a support worker was securing my client employment in security. This was a position he did not believe he would be able to hold but we were able to reach an agreement on a modifiable position that could provide him with paid employment making him financially independent.

    • About me

I was born in Adelaide and we moved to Darwin when I was 5 years old. I love easy listening, chilled music and my favourite musician at the moment is Ziggy Alberts.

I don’t play any musical instruments but if I could play anything, I would love to play the guitar.

I am an explorer! I love being around nature and often drive out to Litchfield, hang out in my hammock and just chill. If I am not out in nature, I am in the gym or doing some type of physical activity.

I like movies based on the second world war and all things history. If you see me in the library, you would find me checking out psychology and philosophy books.

I don't have any pets at the moment but my mum is a wildlife rescuer and at one point we had five wallabies living with us!

My personal goal is to be a positive role model for my friends and family by prioritising my fitness and wellbeing.

    • About my work

I am Emergency Response Warden, a qualified security guard, currently studying group and personalised fitness and have qualifications in:

      - First Aid

      - Asthma, Allergies and Anaphylaxis

      - Epilepsy and Midazolam Management

      - Certificate II in Security Operations

      - MAPA Training (Management of Actual or Potentially Aggressive) Blue Card

I have worked in nightclubs and events as a manager/senior security officer, after school care in social and recreational activities and was an educational support officer at Henbury School

My ideal job would be running my own diverse fitness studio/gym that is inclusive of NDIS supported clients.

    Jeleena

I love working in the support workforce because I am given the opportunity to make an impact, big or small in someone's' life, not only that but the joy it can bring to me in incredible.

I love the flexibility of real life situations support work offers; out and about enjoying the world with incredible people.

    • About me

I have been in Darwin for 10 years now, I own 2 of the cutest puppies and love taking them to play and run at the beach.

I play touch football and rugby union and love prepping for games with music, especially R&B and early 2000's.

I love spending time with my close friend group and family.

    • About my work

I have worked in all sorts of work forces from hands-on to behind the scenes.

A previous workplace that I really enjoyed was being an ISA at a local high school where I was able to be hands on and help young students achieve their personal goals as well as educational goals.

I recently made the decision to leave my corporate job and return to working with young individuals to learn more about the support workforce and help young people in anyway I can.

    Gayan

My favourite part of being a support worker is that I get to meet lots of people and get to learn about their goals and their needs. I like that I am able to help people. I work with a great team of clients and staff - everyone really works together.

My wife was working as a support worker when we first moved to Darwin. Hearing my wife’s stories about all the people she meets made me believe that I would be good at this job too. One of our friends was working at Supporting Moo at the time and they suggested that I apply here, which I am very glad I did.

    • About me

I was born and raised in Sri Lanka. I moved to Australia in 2008 and found a home in Melbourne where I lived until 2019 when I moved to Darwin.

After spending a long time in Melbourne, I became used to the cold weather so Darwin’s heat has been hard to adjust to. My wife, two children and I are starting to get better with the always-warm Darwin weather.

I love watching thriller and action movies and watch lots of Disney movies - like Frozen - with my two daughters.

I like listening to the slow beats of Smooth FM when I'm driving around town.

When I am not a work, I really love exploring Nightcliff or the Mangrove Boardwalk at East Point with my family. If I am not out and about with my family, you’ll find me at home, catching up on some television or sleep.

I don’t have any pets here in Australia but I did have two dogs in Sri Lanka and they were great.

I have some big personal goals with my number one goal of becoming a permanent resident hopefully happening this year. I also would really like to build a house in Australia later down the track.

    • About my work

In Sri Lanka, I had a career as a sales representative for a big company in their tyre department.

When I came to Australia I worked as a cleaner and then a supervisor at Melbourne Stadium. I am a big Collingwood supporter and as a supervisor at the stadium, I got to meet some of my favourite players!

Inspired by my wife who is now a team leader in support work, I completed an online course in Disability Support and that brought me here.

I really love what I do. I love being a part of Supporting Moo because I feel so supported by the other staff and even my clients. I love that I can help them and they can help me.

    Sarah

I have Autism and ADHD. This makes me who I am.

I am excited to be a support worker and I am looking forward to helping people be the best they can be.

    • About me

My family has lived in the NT for the last 10 years. I live with my mum and dad and two younger brothers and a sister.

I am a huge Bon Jovi fan and love all sorts of other music.

I also love the colour green and elephants. I have a huge collection and I would like to one day be in the Guinness World Records for the largest elephant collection. The current record is 5,779.

We have lots of pets, two snakes, Sully and Annabell, a dog Bindi, a bunch of fish and my favourite our cats Duck and Turkey. Turkey is blind but I love her all the same.

    • About my work

I have been a St Johns Cadet for 10, and continue to volunteer now as an adult. I hold my Advanced First Aid Certificate.

Last year I received the division Community Service Award. This award is presented to the cadet with the most community service hours. This year I did 110 hours.

I have recently graduated year 12 and have been accepted into the Bachelor of Paramedic Science

    Eliza

I enjoy meeting new people through my work and building connections with them.

I’m enjoying learning the different needs of different people which is giving me good experience that will come in handy when I become an OT and even as I am studying to be one.

    • About me

I was born and raised in Darwin. I was recently diagnosed with Autism.

My favourite kinds of books and movies are historical dramas. Especially if they have good costumes. I have a rather eclectic taste in music a large part of which comes from my Dad.

I really like history. I particularly like learning about how different clothes and fashions came about and what they can tell us about society.

I like sewing, crochet, and swimming.

I  have two fish tanks each with 4 fish (Mollies). Watching them swim around calms me. I would really like to get a big fish tank with lots of different and colourful fish. I’ve always thought it would be great to have pet jellyfish too.

One day I would like to go to Antarctica, I still don’t know how but one day I’ll get there.

    • About my work

I am currently studying health science in hopes to be an Occupational Therapist. When I have time I am learning Auslan online.

My previous jobs have all been environmental science-type jobs. So this is quite a change.

I am still too early in my studies to know what type of OT work I want to do but I have a passion for women knowing more about their own bodies and health so something like that would be the dream.
